Important Apple Updates – iOS/iPadOS 15.6.1 and macOS 12.5.1

iOS and iPadOS have been updated to 15.6.1, and macOS has been updated to 12.5.1, to patch critical security vulnerabilities.

Apple Zero-Day Vulnerabilities

Apple has released security updates to address critical zero-day vulnerabilities found in iPhones, iPads, iPods, and Mac devices.

CVE-2022-32894 and CVE-2022-32893 are arbitrary code execution vulnerabilities in the kernel and in the Safari-based web engine called WebKit, which is used to display web content in the browser, throughout the device, and in most apps.

The vulnerabilities are known to have been actively exploited in-the-wild. Apple’s bulletin for iOS and iPadOS is here and the Mac is here.

The affected devices include:

  • iPhone 6s and later
  • iPad Pro (all models)
  • iPad Air 2 and later
  • iPad 5th generation and later
  • iPad mini 4 and later
  • iPod touch (7th generation)
  • macOS Monterey

MacRumors reports that Safari has also been updated in macOS Catalina and Big Sur to patch this vulnerability.
